She’s Got The Look…

Welcome back to the Dangerotic blog, Besties!  And let’s all welcome back The Porn Critic!  Of course, you know him as a regular guest here on the blog, and you’ve probably visited his own site The Superheroine Erotic.  And if you haven’t you should!

After you finish reading this article that is!

Today PC and I are discussing superheroine costumes.  Any time I talk about my requirements for a good SHIP Flick (or any superheroine porn) one of my top mentions is the costume.  So PC suggested I do an article on what I think makes a good costume and what some of my favorites are.  I loved this suggestion, obviously, but I said I’d only do it if he agreed to collaborate with me on it.  So here we are!

Let me tackle that first part of the question now.  As I’ve mentioned before I don’t like costumes that are basically just bikinis with a mask.

I’m expected to buy that as a superheroine costume?

Not that I don’t want the costumes to be sexy.  I don’t even expect them to be practical by any stretch.  Whether we’re talking erotica or porn, we’re here for some campy kinky fun, so I’m fine with and want the heroine wearing a skintight, skimpy outfit, high heels, cleavage, boob-windows, mini-skirts, cheeky bottoms, all of it!   …even though they’re going out to get into fights with hardened criminals and super villains.

So where is the line for me?  How about this dichotomy as an example: TBFE superheroine White Shadow’s costume is too plain, too skimpy, and I can’t see any superheroine actually going out to save the world in it.  Even in a porn.

TBFE superheroine Sunder is only slightly more modest, but it has a lot more imagination and a panache that lets me buy into the idea that a heroine would wear it.  At least in a perilous porn…

It’s the imaginative aspect that draws me into a SHIP Flick.  I actually get turned on by creativity.  Sometimes I could maybe even forgive having the actress wear what is clearly just a bikini, when it’s also dressed up with some nice boots, some cool gloves, maybe a cool looking belt, etc. etc.  So when the bikini is part of a more complete and creative costume. Maybe…

The bottom line is if you want me to buy into your superheroine, and subsequently the peril she gets into, then she has to look like a superheroine.

But I can only ever speak for myself and my own preferences, and I’m never intending to lay down any kind of hard guidelines for our kinky little genre in these articles.  I just want everybody to enjoy what they enjoy; this is just about what I enjoy.

Sooo Porn Critic, why don’t you tell us what you enjoy! What do you look for in a SHIP costume, and what do you think makes for a sexy superheroine?

Porn Critic: Thanks for the kind introduction as always! A costume can make or break a SHIP film. It is a fundamental element of the fetish. A superheroine needs a costume to represent her power and show her beauty without being too skimpy.

I share Lady Jane’s opinion for the most part. A superheroine needs a practical costume with sex appeal. It needs to be believable for a heroine in combat.

For example, Emerald Avenger from Lee Carl Productions has a practical and sexy costume. She has the look of a sexy and confident superheroine. The green and white colors and emerald create a unique design. The costume covers her body and shows Gigi Allen’s sexy curves.

On the other hand, White Shadow is the perfect example of a bad costume. It is too slutty and not practical attire for combat. Her body is exposed, and a smart villain would easily take advantage of her exposure. She has no protection against bullets and poisonous substances.

LJ:  Okay!  Now that we’ve given the kind of broad strokes, let’s get a little more specific.  What are our favorite ORIGINAL superheroine in peril costumes, and why?

I’ll go first…with one that probably comes as no surprise to my Besties:  the SHB UltraGirl.

L-R
Rachel Adams in UltraGirl Meets the Therapist produced by Cinched and Secured
Terra Mizu in Crisis on Earth TM produced by Terra Mizu
Kobe Lee in Crimestopper Returns produced by Kobe Lee
Lil Mizz Unique in UltraGirl Tries to Stop The Goon produced by Bound in the Midwest
Dresden in UltraGirl Captured produced by ShinyBound

I just love this look!  The blue, red and gold carries that classic superhero feel.  For obvious reasons as soon as you look at it you think “super,” but it doesn’t look like a cosplay or ripoff.  The costume still has its own identity.

It’s also sexy, without being slutty, so it’s easy to imagine a noble protectress of good and justice actually being willing to wear something like this.  And probably my favorite aspect is that it has lots of layers: powerbelt, boots, shorts, leotard, pantyhose…so it’s always extra fun when the villain starts to peel them all off.

Although…my actual pick for this first favorite is going to be the Generation Next UltraGirl costume worn by Calisa Bliss.

I just love how the purple and red look together, and it gives the costume an even more unique look.  The blue and red has that undeniable classic Super-man/girl vibe that makes it feel instantly iconic, but this version feels like it’s own thing.  I love it!

PC: Sapphire

Sapphire is one of the sexiest original superheroines by Primal Fetish. Alex Coal looks great in this role. She played Sapphire when she was rocking blue hair.

Sapphire wears a blue leotard with a window, bracers, and boots. Her costume shows all of Alex Coal’s assets. The costume complements her bubble butt and shows a respectful amount of cleavage.

Furthermore, Sapphire is a unique look with sex appeal. Sapphire has the look of a sexy and confident superheroine. The costume fits her name and personality.

In addition, Alex Coal’s blue hair adds character to the look. Matching hair to a costume is a rare look and it works for Sapphire. The nanobots completely changes her look, and this change also affects her hair.

LJ: The Mega Power Guardian

Karlie Montana as the Mega Power Guardian by Alex Bettinger

I had to include this one because it is actually the costume from which I took some inspiration for the design of my OC heroine, Hyper Star.  I don’t always appreciate the leotard look though.  They can be plain, and they almost usually end up as just a thong. Not that I’m judging, I wear thongs under my clothes but it seems impractical for a crimefighter to have her whole ass hanging out on purpose.  This leotard has plenty of extra character with the added designs though.  Also, thanks to comic books in the 90s, it’s not hard for me to picture a superheroine wearing thong leotards into action!

I think the Mega Power Guardian’s look is very dynamic.  The red and gold just come together perfectly, and make her look so powerful and confident.  I feel like it’s something I could legitimately see on a comic book cover.  The sheer material covering the plunging neckline is so sexy, almost lending a bit of class to the look, but in a teasing way.  And of course, it makes for an easy tearing point…

Which is of course always part of a costume’s consideration for me: How is it going to be ripped, torn and peeled off the heroine when she’s in peril?

PC: Midnight

Primal Fetish’s Midnight – Young Superheroine’ Hard Lesson XXX features the beautiful Nia Nacci as Midnight. This perilous film is about a young and cocky superheroine. It is the typical trope for the fetish.

Midnight is a stunning superheroine. Her purple costume instantly grabs your attention. She wears a purple leotard with a window to show her cleavage, skirt, black gloves, black boots, and a mask. She looks cute in the skirt and sexy with her leotard showing cleavage.

Furthermore, the costume complements Nia Nacci’s curves. She has a great look for this character. She perfectly portrays a young and cocky superheroine. Her arrogance leads her to multiple defeats in the same film.

LJ: Gem

Alex Bettinger’s Gem vs. Dreamcatcher was one of the earlier SHIP flicks I ever bought.  I can’t remember timelines exactly, but I’d bet this was even before I’d started writing SHIP with any regularity.  I remember thinking it was so cool that this was not another Wonder Woman, or Supergirl cosplay but an original heroine?  I still love this outfit.

As you know I’m a big fan of two piece costumes.  I also love the white and purple.  Hmm, maybe purple is one of my favorite colors..?  I never really wear purple myself, but I do love seeing it on a superheroine.  Victory wore it. It’s part of Bombshell’s design.

…If I ever introduce a version of UltraGirl to the Perilverse she will probably wear the Gen2 purple and red costume…but I digress.

Gem’s costume walks the line for me of almost being too skimpy, but it does just enough to be on the right side of that line.  Which is okay, because it’s SHIP porn.  She can be a little too exposed, a little.

[Sidenote: This is the second outfit I’ve picked with a cape, but I want to go on record as hating capes.

I know that’s superhero blasphemy.  So many of the most iconic superheroes throughout history have worn capes.

But none of my heroines ever will, and today I’m going to admit the real reason why…

I’m an ass-girl.  Cool as it may look, I don’t want some long, overly dramatic cape covering up that fine booty!  Of course there can be exceptions to the rule, and some capes are just the right length to add to that tease factor…

PC: Asteria

Asteria is one of my favorite original superheroines in the genre. She dons the classic look of a superheroine. The blonde heroine wears a silver crop top with her insignia on it, a silver skirt, mask, and silver boots. The addition of the mask logically fits the character better than Supergirl’s costume without the mask.

In addition, Mia Malkova plays Asteria. The costume complements her figure. The halter top shows her curvy tits. The skirt slightly teases her bubble butt. Villains have a lot of hold on to when they get a hold of her!

Furthermore, Asteria’s only appearance is in Obsidian’s Lair 2 Fine Edge Entertainment. It is Mia Malkova’s only hardcore scene in the genre of superheroines in peril. It is a real gem for fans of Mia Malkova.

Best Villain Costume:

PC:  A good superheroine in peril film also needs a great villain. The costumes for villains are also important for the plot. The costume needs the proper look for a villain’s personality and powers.

A villain needs an appearance with intimidation and credibility. Those are the reasons for my selection of Black Skull as the best villain costume. He has a simple and effective design. The black skull for a mask intimidates superheroines. The skull represents death and black is known associated with evil in media.

Furthermore, Black Skull’s suit gives a scary presence for the villain. The suit looks professional and most people associate suits with gentlemen. There is evil behind the professional look. He only has vile intentions for any superheroine in his way of evil business.

LJ:  Oh that is a great idea!  For my villainous pick, how about Rye’s mysterious creature:

I’ve always loved this villain design.  It’s so intricate and scary, as a heroine I would definitely be intimidated by this…thing

While I have been branching out a little more recently, I tend to prefer human villains.  And there are several actors I have longstanding peril-crushes on.

However, when this creature appeared in Rye’s Alpha Girl (starring Dillion Harper) I was immediately enamored by it.  It made the production feel a little more exciting and over-the-top, the way a SHIP flick should be!

I also do appreciate that it’s “mysterious“.  Is it a monster, a mutated human, something more alien?  It is designed in such a way it gets my imagination going.  These costumes don’t have to be top of the line makeup and special effects, they just have to give my imagination enough inspiration to fill in the blanks.

So those are our favorite original heroine costumes, but it just feels wrong to discuss superheroine porn without including the cosplay aspect.

I worry sometimes when I talk about cosplay in SHIP Flix it may come across as belittling, but I never mean it to!  I do prefer porn with original heroines, but I buy plenty of videos starring versions of mainstream heroines as well.

So I thought we should include a section acknowledging that.

I feel like no discussion of SHIP Flix is complete without mentioning the big two:  Wonder Woman and Supergirl.  So PC, which version of their costumes is your favorite, and who wore it best??

Wonder Woman Cosplay

PC: Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superheroines. My favorite costume of Wonder Woman is worn by Alex Coal in Primal Fetish’s Wonder Woman – The Wrath of Ares XXX. It is a classic version of the character. She has the power belt, tiara, and bracers. The costume also complements Alex Coal’s figure.

Furthermore, Alex Coal resembles Wonder Woman from Justice League the animated series. Her long black hair and beautiful face look like the superheroine from the series. She has great poise as the amazonian princess.

LJ:  My favorite Wonder Woman is the costume worn by Alina Lopez in SHX’s Wonder Woman: The Harvest.

I love how sleek this looks.  It evokes the classic style but seems modern and updated.  I love the 70’s WW costume, but I wouldn’t wear those satin tights today…I would wear this!  And all the accessories are on point too, the bracelets and tiara look high quality, not like they were picked up at Spirit of Halloween on November 1st.

And what else can you say about Alina Lopez.  I think she’s a better Wonder Woman than Gal Gadot could ever be.  Alina’s not a muscle-mommy-amazon but she’s also not a waifish model-type that looks like a strong breeze could blow her over.  She’s got a poise and power in her performance, just an overall great look for WW.

Supergirl Cosplay

PC: Supergirl is my favorite superheroine. I prefer her look of the blue halter top, blue skirt, and red cape. The costume shows her sexy and powerful abs. The red and gold boots match the costume’s aestics.

Therefore, my favorite look of Supergirl in SHIP is Sky Blue from Supergirl: A Destroyed Superheroine by Concoxxxion. She looks great in this costume. The halter shows a bit of cleavage.

LJ:  My favorite Supergirl look is classic red skirt and cape look, and I don’t think anyone ever wore it better or looked more the part than Lexi Bell in the Rye’s Public Disgrace 4.

LJ:  Of course, there are lots of mainstream heroines who have been represented in SHIP, but not often with the frequency of WW and SG.  So let’s wrap things up with a cosplay wildcard:

Mine is the Black Canary as worn by Mackenzie in SHX’s Canary in the Coal.

I love everything about this.  The jacket and boots look fully badass.  The mask is perfect.  The belt is so cool, it actually looks like a superhero utility.  The leotard isn’t just a black leotard it has a design that makes it look like it might be something more than just spandex.  And the fishnets, yum!

I definitely think the Perilverse’s next OC heroine will need some fishnets, don’t you Besties??

Black Canary is a costume that could easily be phoned in: “Black leotard, fishnets, mask- nailed it…”  But everyone involved really went above and beyond for this one.

PC: My selection for the cosplay wildcard is Miss Marvel (Captain Marvel) with Octativa Red from Ms. Marvel Sexual Power Drain. This costume is true perfection in my opinion. Octativa Red’s appearance in this costume fulfills the fantasy of a bombshell of a superheroine.

Octativa Red looks like a superheroine from the costume. She truly looks amazing in this costume. The costume complements her curves and she has the perfect body for a powerful and sexy superheroine.

In addition, the costume is great quality. It is a perfect presentation of Miss Marvel. The black high heel boots complete the look.

LJ:  Awesome! Unfortunately, I think that’s all we got for you guys today!  This has been so much fun, but now it’s your turn Besties!  What original SHIP costumes did we leave out?  Who wore SG or WW the best?  Who’s your cosplay wild card?  Let us know down in the comments or you can X us @dangerotica and @SuperParody.
